Woodland Trust booklet

One of best things about my job is being able to bring campaigns to life with the use of wonderful illustration and finding the right person for the job is always a challenge itself. One of my all-time favourite illustrators is Helen Musselwhite and her works with paper to create magical illustrated models and sets is second to none.

Cutting by hand, she uses coloured and painted paper as she builds detailed and multi-layered scenes inspired by the natural world and its inhabitants. I was always waiting to find the right project to commission her, so when we received a brief from The Woodland Trust to produce a booklet which would highlight the great outdoors and to get people exploring the woods and forests on your doorstep, then I knew who to call.

We needed Helen to produce us a front cover and a double-page spread to explain the anatomy of a wood and both would involve lot of lovely models of trees, greenery and plenty of little animals and creatures. She was a pleasure to work with and as you can see the results were simply stunning. This remains one of my favourite printed booklets and mainly that is down to Helen’s paper magic.
