Some campaigns I work on are really interesting as they push the latest technology to the limit and when we combine creativity, then the results can be fascinating. One that really did that was HP and their multi-touch Sprout workspace. Joining forces were Design studio Kynttan, we asked them to use the Sprout and make us a very special jumper with it. The story would then feature as a wrap around The Guardian's 'Do Something' magazine.
Kynttan is changing the face of fashion by giving customers the power to design their own knitwear directly from their website by manipulating the colours and pattern for a jumper or scarf, before a Stoll knitting machine knits the digital design in front of their eyes. Customers in the studio were invited to scan their hands using the Sprout and then we make a collage that would be the final design for the jumper. I felt a larger hands design would work better than one with many smaller ones. This bespoke collage was then added into Kynttan's own design tool which then created a two-colour jumper design that took 3 hours to be printed.
I decided on a light and dark blue pattern as I'd use white copy on the cover wrap. Our photographer took shots of the whole process and after the jumper was stitched, then our model tried it on and one foldering arm pose was the one that we used on the cover wrap.
