Derry-Londonderry won the right to be named UK City of Culture in 2013, embarking on a year of festivals and events, unlike anything seen in Ireland before. To showcase these events, we were asked to come up with a striking campaign that could run the whole year across multi-platforms, without looking tired. After using circles to bring the Cancer Research campaign to life, I decided that it was the turn of the triangle to do the same for Ireland.
Playing around with varies sizes, angles and colours, I devised a way of showing images inside these triangles, which was challenging to get the right photography to fit but when it did it really stood out. Adding extra smaller triangles completed the artwork and gave the campaign a very fresh and unique feel. This design easily fitted across many different executions in print and looked even better in digital. Inside the hub, we were asked to design an interactive calendar which could be used to scroll through the year's cultural events and click on them to receive popups with more information.
Our clients were very happy with the end product and the campaign ran solidly throughout the year and constantly looked fantastic.
